Travellers are more confident to hire a car and drive in Europe than ever before, new research from Europcar Group and EasyJet has revealed.
Figures show that 36% more customers are hiring a car with Europcar through easyJet than they were five years ago, highlighting a strong level of growth.
The results come as Europcar Group and EasyJet have agreed a two-year extension to an existing partnership that allows travellers to rent a car when purchasing their flights.
The partnership – which was first introduced in 2003 – has resulted in millions of customers hiring a car with Europcar through EasyJet, with travellers able to take advantage of exclusive prices.
Carolyn McCall, easyJet Chief Executive, said: “It’s never been easier to book flights and car hire together and this is clearly demonstrated with more and more people using this service every year.”
Through the extended partnership, easyJet will be able to offer travellers the lowest prices possible when they hire a car for their journey around Europe.
The two companies were the first in Europe to allows customers to book their flight and car in one single transaction and payment.
Over the next couple of years, easyJet will be working alongside Europcar to develop and integrate future innovations which will make travel easier for passengers.
Hiring a car in Europe has become cheaper in recent years, with figures from autoeurope.co.uk showing that prices have dropped by an average of 40% in some hotspots, including Barcelona and Nice.
Many travel experts believe that travellers can save a great deal on rental costs by booking early and by scouting around for the best insurance, protecting yourself against accidents or mishaps.
