London has been named ahead of New York and Paris as the best city in the world in a study by consultancy firm PwC.
The survey was conducted with 5,200 well-educated adults, who were all senior business decision makers or high-income consumers, who typically stay up to date with world events.
Taken into account in the survey were culture, infrastructure, general happiness, health and entertainment, with those surveyed representing 16 countries from across the globe.
London came out on top due to its legal system, well-developed infrastructure and its health service, which were all deemed better than any other city.
Unsurprisingly, Paris finished in second place for its cuisine, entertainment, trendsetting and its cultural influence.
New York followed in third, even though it was considered to be the best in terms of access and economic influence – however, it fell short due to its ever-increasing living costs and traffic congestion.
Aside from the perception of those surveyed, another list was put together based on quantifiable information, which still named London in first.
However, in this list Singapore and Toronto took second and third, meaning Paris dropped two places to fourth.
Most surprisingly, New York dropped three places to sixth as Amsterdam was named in fifth place –Lagos in Nigeria came last in both of the lists.
London has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, and has seen continuous improvements in the amount tourists passing through.
The capital welcomed a record-breaking 31.5 million international and UK tourists in 2015, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.
Experts anticipate that there will be further growth this year, partly driven by the success of Team GB at the Olympic Games in Rio, and developments to transport systems.
