Musement has launched an industry first fully integrated, in-destination booking service that allows users to book and purchase tickets for various attractions in real-time.
The booking service allows those travelling to receive a push notification when they are near an attraction, then book a ticket, skip the line at the venue and obtain immediate access to their chosen attraction.
Musement has pioneered the technology – which now operates across 55 countries worldwide and over 350 cities – to check on whether same day tickets are available in real-time.
If travellers have the app installed and are within a 500m radius of a venue they will receive a push notification in their desired language, which opens an e-ticket for the attraction or event that can be purchased immediately and redeemed at the venue.
The technology essentially alleviates one of the sector’s biggest challenges to date by allowing travellers to maximise their time at a single destination.
Leaders within the travel industry highlighted the issue of a lack of digital discovery for travellers, which Musement’s new feature has directly responded too.
The In-Destination Experience, a travel industry report published by Phocuswright, a market leading research firm, identified the lack of digital discovery as an issue for customers booking activities and tours online.
Of the amount of attraction and museum tickets that were brought in 2015, 79% are purchased in-destination and manually, according to the report which concluded that tour and attraction providers need to be able to engage traveller’s in-destination and last minute in order to ensure growth in the sector.
Top tourist attractions such as the Berlin TV Tower, the MAXXI National Museum in Rome and The Louvre Museum in Paris have already started working with Musement, and will gradually roll out the new feature in venues worldwide over the next few years.
