Families and friends travelling together will be able to make things even easier by using multiple mobile boarding passes for boarding British Airways flights.
Up to now, each person had to each carry their own smartphone if they wanted to use the BA app to show their mobile boarding pass and go through security or board a flight. But up to eight individual mobile boarding passes will now be able to be viewed on one phone, as long as everyone travelling together is on the same booking reference number.
The update for the British Airways' mobile app is available now for iPhones and Android devices. The new mobile functionality simply means swiping between boarding passes on the same device.
The latest update is the most recent in a series of improvements and developments being made to the carrier's own app, which has proved extremely popular with travellers. Recently British Airways unveiled its very first travel app especially designed for iPads.
The following departure airports are already set up to allow passengers to make use of multiple boarding passes: Aberdeen, Amsterdam, Basel, Belfast, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Geneva, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds, London City, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Vienna and Zurich.
More airports will be added to the list over the coming weeks although families whose bookings include an infant passenger should take note that they cannot currently use the new function.
Quicker and easier
British Airways’ Head of Marketing Retail and Direct Channels, Sara Dunham, said: “Multiple boarding passes stored on just one device makes it far quicker and easier for groups of friends or families travelling together to pass through security and board our flights.
She added that they had responded to feedback from customers when deciding on how best to improve experiences in airports.
