British Airways are launching a specially designed version of their travel app for fans of Apple's iPad.
The new app will include exclusive features to help BA customers get more out of their experience with the airline and it will be available to download from the Apple App Store.
One of the new attractions will be a 3D globe that shows the destinations served by British Airways, along with help finding the cheapest available fares. The app will also give customers the chance to create their own viewing plan for in-flight films, TV shows and music.
The carrier's own in-house design and IT experts have produced the new app and it's the first time this kind of initiative has been tried by BA, even though it was the opening UK airline to launch an app with a mobile boarding pass for travellers in 2010.
The recognition of the popularity of apple devices comes after data revealed that in the last year alone the number of customers booking through an iPhone increased by more than 100%.
British Airways' Head of Marketing Retail and Direct Channels, Sara Dunham, said: “Our customers are always on the move and are often pressed for time, so designing an app for iPad users made perfect sense.”
“Now they can use the same functions that appear on our smartphone app, with some new extra features, on a wider and even more user-friendly screen. The new app is the latest move to make the travelling experience easier and smoother for British Airways customers.”
Those frequent BA flyers who are in the airline's Executive Club will also have a screen showing their status, account details, tier points and Avios balances, along with all their recent transaction data. Club members can also access their digital membership card and book flights with Avios through the app.
Viewing upcoming flight status, checking in, finding out about the weather at their destination and downloading a boarding pass can all be done easily on one device. A bar code is even produced in each of the iPad's corners to make it even easier to use at the boarding gate.
If you are an iPad fan don't forget you can also book for all your Worldwide Travel Insurance needs online too.
