The Spanish islands have witnessed a resurgence of British tourists once again this year, with Mallorca being named the most popular holiday destination for sun worshipping Brits in 2015.
Research published by TravelSupermarket found that 68% of holiday searches for short-haul beach breaks were for the Balearic Islands, mainland Spain or the Canary Islands with the majority of Brits researching Mallorca.
Destinations for everyone
Spanish destinations were not the only popular holiday locations though; Disneyland Paris also fared well and was the most popular search for young families after a short break with the kids.
Coastal destinations famous for their party scene such as Malia, Ayia Napa and Magaluf were the most popular holiday spots for groups of youngsters while hopeless romantics were more likely to look for city breaks in the likes of Venice, Rome and Paris.
The ideal summer location
Bob Atkinson, from TravelSupermarket, said that year after year Brits find themselves heading to Spain, knowing the country will deliver hot weather and value for money.
Whether travellers are on the lookout for a quiet and relaxing break or a location full of entertainment around the clock, Spain has it all he added.
Mr Atkinson concluded that the cost of living in Spain – and other countries in the Eurozone – has recently been slashed, making it the ideal summer holiday location for many Brits.
